Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking Every 2015 Project From Worst To Best

2. Jessica Jones (Season 1)

The first season of Jessica Jones hasn't even been out on Netflix for a month yet and already it's earned the character and her own little slice of the MCU a legion of fans. Quite possibly the darkest thing Marvel has put out yet, the first season helped prove not only that the success of the first season of Daredevil wasn't a fluke, but that there is so much room for all kinds of storytelling within the MCU. The first season introduced characters like Luke Cage - ahead of his own series arriving next year - Patsy Walker, and, of course, Kilgrave. David Tennant's performance as the latter was an undeniable highlight of both the series and the MCU, instantly solidifying his status as one of, if not the best villain within the MCU, with his obsession with Jessica, dismissal that he's a rapist, and remorselessness in commanding people to suffer, mutilate, and even kill themselves somehow coming off far worse than some of his world-destroying predecessors. And though the supporting cast - save, perhaps, the odd and often grating Robyn - and the stylish nature of the show are amazing, it would all be for nothing if Krysten Ritter wasn't there to anchor it all, which she does admirably, keeping the sarcastic, hard-drinking, no-nonsense Jessica from ever not being the true heart of the show. Whether it's in Luke Cage, her own second season, or even The Defenders the next time we see her, we can't wait to see where the character goes next.
