Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Project By Anticipation

4. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Marvel Cinematic Universe
Marvel

Before Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy was the one that was 'too out-there', 'Marvel's biggest risk', and 'the one that could fail'. In fairness, such doubts were understandable: the team features a talking raccoon and a tree who can only say what his name is.

However, the doubts were pretty much blown away by the trailer, and the film - fast, funny, and with a wonderful soundtrack - stands as one of Marvel's very best. The hardest part now is to repeat the trick.

The film will bring back all the main players, and centre on the Guardians travel through the cosmos as they attempt to learn more about Peter Quill's father - who, it turns out, is Kurt Russell, with the film set to have a real emotional core to it. Pom Klementieff's Mantis is coming along for the ride too, while there'll be antagonism from the Ravagers and Elizabeth Debicki's High Priestess Ayesha.

Once again written and directed by James Gunn, and with another carefully chosen Awesome Mix on the way, I can't stop this feeling that this will be another hit. If you're still in doubt, two words: Baby. Groot.

Release Date: May 5, 2017.
