Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Project By Anticipation
3. The Defenders
With two seasons of Daredevil and one of Jessica Jones, Marvel/Netflix are 3-3 in the MCU, and that could be for 5-5 by the time we're all done binge-watching Iron Fist over one glorious weekend.
But while these shows all tell compelling stories on an individual level, they're building to something much bigger: The Defenders. Ostensibly the Avengers for the small screen, it'll be the culmination of 2-3 years of world building when it finally hits Netflix, and that's an incredibly enticing proposition - in particular for a TV show to be attempting it.
The teaser suggests that the Hand will be heavily involved, and they'll need to raise the game after their appearance in Daredevil Season 2. That said, it's likely they'll just be one of the threats faced here, and any doubts on that front are far outweighed by the thought of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist - who we'll presumably know and care about by that stage - all coming together and fighting as a team. Throw in a couple of each series' best supporting characters, and the same showrunners as Daredevil Season 2, and it's the recipe for some truly great, ambitious TV.
Air Date: 2017, likely fall.
