Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Project By Anticipation
2. Spider-Man: Homecoming
Spider-Man is coming home (oh, I see what they've done with the title...). After years of poor sequels and failed reboots, fans have finally got their wish and had the character join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There's no Uncle Ben death to see here, just a pitch-perfect teenage Spidey, played by Tom Holland. Introduced in Civil War, he's has already nailed the character, and ramped up anticipation for the movie even further beyond it being his homecoming.
John Hughes and Harry Potter have both been mentioned as touchstones for where they want to go with this Spider-Man, meaning that alongside crimefighting we're going to be getting a coming-of-age tale and a superhero-film-cum-high-school-movie, while it should also be really funny: aside from Holland, who displayed his comedic chops in Civil War, it's directed by Jon Watts, written by Jonathan M. Goldstein & John Francis Daley, and features some excellent comedy actors (in amongst its huge cast).
Robert Downey Jr. is in there too, meaning that although it's a co-production between Marvel and Sony, it'll have clear ties to the MCU, while the great Michael Keaton is set to be the main villain (all-but-confirmed as Vulture). Spidey is back!
