Marvel Phase 3: 15 Outrageous Predictions That Could Change Everything
7. Loki Is Killed Off - Thor: Ragnarok
The Prediction
After rather unwittingly freeing Hela from her prison and sending Asgard towards catastrophe, Loki is forced to join forces with his brother to save his home, and pays the ultimate price, sacrificing himself to allow his brother to live. That'd be the right way to poetically end his arc, and to finally put an end to the vagueness of his allegiance.
The Implications
Without Loki, Marvel would have to work even harder to introduce better villains, but they'd also have the safety net removed that could be potentially limiting them.
Loki doesn't need to play any part in Infinity War - in fact, him being involved at all would call into question Thanos' power (since Loki already failed him rather comically in The Avengers). It would also avoid the awkward exchange when everyone realises that Thanos had an Infinity Stone and accidentally gave it to Loki to help him get hold of the Infinity Stones. The idiot.
Plus, if you really wanted him back, you could kill him using the Soul Stone and simply have him revived at the climax of Infinity War...
