Marvel Post-Credit Scenes - Ranked From Worst To Best

7. Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Marvel Studios

Avengers: Age Of Ultron broke from tradition somewhat by toning down all this post-credits teasing by including only one, short mid-credits sting - as Joss Whedon said a few weeks ahead of release, the only thing at the end of the credits is the promise that "The Avengers Will Return".

The scene they went with furthered the ongoing build-up to Infinity War, showing Thanos get ahold of the Infinity Gauntlet and muttering that he'll "do it" himself. Neatly getting around any problems with the possession of the Gauntlet (that Easter egg in Thor, where it was glimpsed in the background, could have led to extensive writing around the point) and bringing the MCU's big bad to the fore, it's a solid, if rather safe scene.

Of course, any narrative development with the mad Titan is much welcomed - despite his motives being endlessly dissected online, he's had minimal presence in the movies themselves - although it is something of a disappointment that this is pretty much repeating the sentiment of The Avengers' mid-credits scene, only with Josh Brolin's voice. It doesn't kill the moment, but stops it being among the very best.
