Marvel Studios Crisis: Everything You Need To Know About The Creative Shakeup

4. Who Is Ike Perlmutter?

Without Isaac Perlmutter, the CEO of Marvel Entertainment, it's entirely possible that Marvel wouldn't be where it is today. Back in 1997, his company Toy Biz Inc. helped Marvel climb out of bankruptcy, paving the way for the company to start taking over the world over a decade later.

However, in the years since Marvel Studios began the MCU, Perlmutter's notoriety for penny-pinching, dated views and interest in toy sales has repeatedly been cited as a source of conflict for many people. Between rumors of Perlmutter letting Terrance Howard go for the cheaper Don Cheadle because black people "look the same" to believing no one wants female-led films or even Black Widow toys, it's long seemed that the creative stifling going on has been a combination of Perlmutter and the Committee, with Feige at the mercy of both.
