Marvel's Infinity Saga: Every MCU Movie Ranked Worst To Best
11. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 (2017)
There were lots of accusations that James Gunn's follow-up to the original Guardians Of The Galaxy was a little too in love with itself to be a truly great movie, but the sequel is just as infectious as its predecessor. And since when is taking something that everyone loved and dialling it up a notch ever anything but great.
From the opening scenes of Baby Groot dancing to ELO while the other Guardians battle a giant space squid through to the heart-tearingly sad ending, it's cocky and funny, massively heartfelt and totally convincing in its emotional stakes.
Kurt Russell's Ego is a good addition as the villain and advances further the MCU's serious daddy issues, while Nebula nad Gamora continue their own violent ballet in the shadow of their own sh*tbag father. In the end, even though the music, the humour and the action is great, it's Star-Lord's story with Yondu that really endures and there's some writing in there that should be taught to all aspiring screenwriters. Thank God James Gunn was allowed back for the threequel.
