Marvel's Infinity Saga: Every MCU Movie Ranked Worst To Best

10. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Who would have thought that something as dull and as much of a slog as Thor: The Dark World could spawn something as delightful and infectious as Thor: Ragnarok?

Strictly speaking, the success of the threequel had nothing to do with what came before it, but the story at least did continue the interesting set-up of Loki having taken over Asgard. And even with the world-destroying Ragnarok story smashed together with elements of the Surtur Saga and Planet Hulk, the film never goes as po-faced or grim as its predecessor and that's all down to Taika Waititi.

A strange choice for the film, the comedy director saw the inherent comedy in Thor that few else could, injected a slightly diluted version of his own comedy sensibilities and painted a colourful inter-galactic romp that is a joyful, strange celebration of his own imagination and that of Jack Kirby. At times it's silly, but there's lots of heart and convincing stakes and its reinvention of Thor deserves all of the credit in the world.
