Marvel's Infinity Saga: Every MCU Movie Ranked Worst To Best
12. Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)
The first Avengers movie is a lot more of a whipping boy than it ever deserved. Sure, it's not the tightly-formed, spectacular blockbuster of its predecessor, but it is a very good escalation of that movie all the same and there's a lot to love.
Even though it proved a difficult production for Joss Whedon - who left the MCU on the back of it and his issues with the studio - Age Of Ultron still hits a lot of the selling points of the original, particularly in its balance of character moments and spectacle. Most crucially of all, it advanced already established MCU ideas - such as Tony Stark's spiral into guilt and blinkered self-destruction in the name of saving the universe - and introduced a story far more focused than the first Avengers movie.
And though he gets a lot of heat, James Spader's overblown Ultron is a joy to watch and the introduction of the twins and Vision work equally well. And for once, Hawkeye finally gets a chance to do something in a story that takes dark turns but which remains - more than anything - a lot of fun.
