Marvel’s Spider-Man: 8 Characters The New Movies Need To Introduce

7. Anna Watson

Anna is the kindly Aunt of Mary Jane Watson. She€™s also Aunt May€™s best friend and the one who set Peter and Mary Jane up on their first blind date. Basically, Peter has a lot to thank her for. I€™m not suggesting that Anna and May be given some sort of major subplot (I still remember the horror of ITV€™s granny detectives Rosemary and Thyme) but it€™s the idea of Peter resisting the efforts of his Aunt and her friend to set him up only to meet MJ at the film€™s end that really appeals from a comedic and emotional standpoint. It would also provide a great deal of levity throughout the film, as Peter would struggle with not just his powers, his enemies/school bullies and getting good grades but also with being harangued about his love life every time he gets home. It would also provide the film with a great payoff. Just imagine, the carnage of the film settles and at the end of the third act Peter opens the door to the date he€™s reluctantly accepted to be met with the immortal line; €œFace it, Tiger, you just hit the jackpot.€ Bang. End credits. The crowd goes wild.
