4. Finn - Fool's Gold
Because the first Kate Hudson collaboration went
so well (see No. 1), this generations equivalent of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn (that worked
even better), McConaughey came back for what should have been (at best) a guilty pleasure, but ended up being an absolute drag in every way. Matt plays Ben Finn Finnegan, a douchey treasure hunter who rekindles a past relationship with Hudsons ex-wife Tess by searching for a legendary treasure hidden on the ocean floor in a Spanish Galleon. And yes, you guessed it... "hilarity" ensues. Surprisingly, Tess divorced Finn because their relationship was purely physical. This is not sweet, bubbly or funny enough to be a just-passable rom com, and not cool enough to be a decent-enough romp. So it simply flounders on every level, and McConaughey brings absolutely nothing to the table. And yes, he takes his top off, arguably more than usual. Thank God this was his last failure before he stepped his career up a notch.
