3. Tripp - Failure To Launch
Well, Matt sure knows how to pick em and hey, this time hes co-starring with
Sarah Jessica Parker! How could this be anything but great? Jesus wept. Yet another poor, poor, oh-so-poor offering from McConaughey in a flat role which becomes obnoxious and irritating very quickly. And the tone-deaf addition of Barbara Streisand only helps to make the whole affair even more grating. McConaughey plays Tripp, a 35-year-old man who oh, whats the point in continuing? "A 35-year-old man who still lives with his parents." Desperate to get their womanising leech of a son out of the house, they hire Paula (Parker), an expert in this sort of thing. Because theres a competitive market for that, apparently. But whats that you say? In her attempts to manipulate Tripp, she starts to fall for him? The rest, as they wearily say, is history. Pure bloody textbook bland romantic comedy movie history. Could you not at least
try and stir up some chemistry with Jessica Parker, Matt, as Herculean a task as I appreciate it may be? Any chance you could make Tripp
vaguely interesting? Or is that too much to ask, even though youre being paid millions of dollars for this? This is perhaps the worst, laziest romantic comedy I have ever seen. For shame, Matt, for shame! But its not even his suckiest performance! Theres worse to come
