MCU: 10 Behind The Scenes Feuds Marvel Studios Doesn't Want You To Know
2. Natalie Portman Vs. Marvel Studios
Sometimes, these behind the scenes feuds do have a happy ending, and with Natalie Portman set to play the Mighty Thor in Taika Waititi's upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, the actress has clearly managed to put her differences with Marvel Studios to one side. In 2013, however, it was a different matter, and one that led to a six-year absence from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The original plan for Thor: The Dark World was for future Wonder Woman 1984 helmer Patty Jenkins to take charge of the Marvel Studios sequel, and Portman had played a huge role in making that happen.
She was excited to make a Romeo and Juliet-style movie exploring Thor's relationship with Jane Foster, but Marvel Studios shot that down, and instead went for a conventional blockbuster with some Game of Thrones-inspired moments. That didn't work for Jenkins, so she left the project, and a "furious" Portman was keen to follow. Unfortunately for her, she was contractually obliged to return.
With that, the actress was done with the MCU, but was tempted back for a voice came in Avengers: Endgame and the prospect of working with Waititi on Love and Thunder as a true female lead.
