MCU: 10 Characters Who Could Lead The Avengers Against Kang The Conqueror

Though What If…? focused on many different characters across many different universes, with the Watcher being the only one appearing across every episode, there was still a feeling that Captain Carter was the key character. Certainly when the Guardians of the Multiverse came together.

She was to the Watcher’s Guardians what Captain America was to the Avengers, which is no surprise as their stories were exactly the same. She had the super soldier serum injected into her veins, and used her powers to protect both the world and the universe, making it a better place.

Hayley Atwell returned for a live-action version of the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and though she was unceremoniously killed within minutes by Wanda, this doesn’t rule out further appearances. This was a Variant rather than the same Captain as the animated version, which leaves the door open for even more to come. If Kang can have Variants from multiple universes, why can’t Captain Carter?

As the first Avenger, and potentially bringing from whichever universe she comes knowledge of her Kang the Conqueror, there is no reason to believe she couldn’t fill the shoes of the departed Steve Rogers. They are cut from the same cloth after all, quite literally.
