In their earlier days Marvel Studios certainly had a reputation for playing it stingy with their actors' salaries, and that was definitely the case with Chris Evans, who was very much a rising star at the time.

Evans earned a rather paltry $300,000 for his performance in The First Avenger, which was at least in step with Paul Rudd's identical payout for Ant-Man, and a step up from Chris Hemsworth's mere $200,000 pay-day for the first Thor (with Hemsworth being a virtual unknown at the time of its release).

Evans' earnings quickly multiplied with each passing movie, though, and by the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron just four years later, he commanded a mighty $6.9 million to reprise the role.
