Choosing your favourite Stan Lee cameo is like picking your favourite child. Each one is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, no matter whether it comes in a grand set-piece like The Amazing Spider-Man, or a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cut like in Captain Marvel.

The one that left everyone in total disbelief, though, was Guardians 2's. Here, Stan appears in space, speaking to the Watchers and actually discussing his previous cameos. It was the first time his different appearances had been acknowledged in canon, and it raised so many juicy questions about Stan Lee's role in this universe, even if it was mostly in a tongue-in-cheek way.

However, at one point during production, this cameo was actually cut for something far more basic. In fact, it was actually Lee's cameo in Civil War which sealed the deal. Explaining the decision, Gunn elaborated:

"It wasn’t in for a long time and we put it back in towards the end of the process where he references that time he was a Federal Express agent, and we thought it would be fun to put that and keep that in there because that really says, ‘So wait a minute, he’s this same character who’s popped up in all these films, the same person.’”
