7. There Were Some INSANE Cuts

Ed Norton famously came on board after being "promised" the opportunity to oversee changes to the film. He'd done the same on American History X to great success, but Marvel's acceptance of the caveat here wasn't quite as straight-forward.

Norton did bring in Doc Samson and was keen to add more depth to Hulk, but the theatrical release of the film cut out large swathes of the work he'd put into it. Looking through some of the cuts that were made, it's hard not to feel like Marvel were probably justified.

Before the cuts, Bruce Banner's dog is called Rick as a nod to comics side-kick Rick Jones. The whole poisoned soda sequence wasn't going to include Stan Lee originally either - it would have seen the introduction of a young black boy called Jimmy whose brother drinks the soda after stealing his lunch. Quite why there needed to be more characters in there is anyone's guess.

Another scene saw General Ross explaining a Hulk appearance as an escaped gorilla incident to Blonsky and the revelation that the government was using super serum to test on terrorists. Seriously, it was not a smart script.
