7. Nick Fury
Why He Has To Die
He might have put the Avengers team together originally, but since Nick Fury went underground after his "death" in The Winter Soldier, he's done precious little to suggest he's really necessary any more. He turned up in Age Of Ultron for a pep talk, but with Captain America now underground too, Fury's toes are being firmly stood on. Unfortunately for him, he's a spare wheel.
In fact, rather ironically, his death would be symbolically useful to bringing the Avengers back together (just as Coulson's was in The Avengers), and it's not like Marvel need to go on spending massive Sam Jackson wages for a glorified cameo every few years.
When It'll Happen
Avengers: Infinity War would be the smart guess, since him turning up in another movie before then for long enough to be killed would be pretty strange. He's actually the only character who could die off screen with no issues.
How He'll Die
Thanos killing him would be fitting, given his billing, but it would be far more interesting for him to be a casualty of General Ross' sub-narrative in the two forthcoming Avengers movies. He is after all on the hunt for underground heroes, and killing Fury off as part of that would establish that he very much means business.
