MCU: 10 Things That Repeat WAY Too Much

4. Pointless "Government Agents"

Amidst the heroes, their love interests, playful sidekicks, and guest cameos, there's got to be a suited G-Man somewhere in the periphery.

In any sane world, a couple of suited fellows waving their giant jurisdictions around would actually be a comforting presence; seeing Martin Freeman standing in a room with Captain America, Black Panther, Falcon and Iron Man tells us there's at least one adult present during the madness.

But there is also a problem with these characters: Most are superfluous; neither act as friend nor enemy, and are tourists to the adventures we want to see our heroes go on.

As much as we might love Randall Park's character of Jimmy Woo, be honest and ask yourself what impact he had on the plot for Ant Man & The Wasp, or Wandavision, for that matter?

Agent Coulson, Everett Ross, Jimmy Woo, Tyler Hayward, General Ross and even the Nova Corps act as seat-filling strawmen against characters we'd rather see more of. And let's not even start on however the hell Julia Louise-Dreyfus' character fits into all this.

If the MCU is to continue bringing in these government agents we're not sure are going to be friend or foe, can they at least narrow down the roster of characters to a single entity that pops up? At least that way, a chunk of the plot isn't taken up by a new character stepping in and confusing everyone with their allegiance.

And while we're on the subject...

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
