MCU: 10 Things You Learn Rewatching Thor

6. Stripping Thor Of His Powers Is Necessary, But Lame

The split between Asgard and Earth is where most of the problems in Thor can be found, but it's clear that this approach was needed as Marvel didn't want to overload viewers with too much, too soon, and grounding the action back on Earth more elegantly links the movie with the rest of the cinematic universe.

The same can be said of stripping Thor of his powers. It's not exactly easy to relate to a God, but by going out of their way to literally humanise the character, the studio made him one of the most beloved Avengers.

Still, although the decision works on paper, it doesn't make for a particularly fun movie. Especially after spending so much time with the character operating at full capacity, limiting his skill set means the Earthbound sequences lack the creativity and imagination that the rest of the movie thrives on.
