Hawkeye lost everything. That's how Endgame opened, and we saw the dark path it took him down. By the end of the film, he's reclaimed most of what he lost, with his family returning, but at the cost of losing his best friend.

That's going to be a painful, constant reminder of what happened and who he became, and leads into the Hawkeye TV series coming to Disney Plus.

The show will reportedly feature Hawkeye and Kate Bishop (who may or may not be played by Katherine Langford, with her rumoured appearance in Endgame not materialising). Hawkeye training a new hero who can go out there and protect the world, and means he can fully retire to be with the family he lost, makes even more sense after his journey in this film.
