MCU - 10 Ways Avengers: Endgame Sets Up Phase 4 & Disney Plus
6. Namor Might Be Introduced
When, five years into the future, various heroes are checking in with Black Widow, we hear tell of something from Okoye that likely made more than a few ears prick up, as she mentions an underwater earthquake off the coast of Africa. When pressed, Okoye simply says Wakanda are going to leave it alone.
It's not an overt setup, but it is very likely a hint towards Namor the Sub-Mariner, should Marvel be able to turn it into something more tangible. Kevin Feige has spoken a few times about wanting Namor in the MCU, although the rights are seemingly tied up with Universal.
That makes this nod a little cannier though. It's likely Marvel could work a deal out, and being able to offer Universal a slice of the Black Panther pie, given how huge the first one was, might help in that regard. Add in the success of Aquaman, who like Namor rules Atlantis, and you can see why the character would be an attractive proposition from a business standpoint.
As for the character himself, he's an anti-hero who could work with or against T'Challa, is great and iconic in his own right, and as Marvel's first mutant he could push the door open for the eventual arrival of the X-Men and Fantastic Four as well.
