5. Crossbones Shoots Captain America
Will Marvel Studios really kill off Captain America in next year's Civil War adaptation?
I'm still not entirely convinced they have the cajones, but they most definitely should. After surrendering in order to bring an end to the destruction the battle between the two factions of The Avengers was causing, Steve Rogers was later taken to court to be held accountable for refusing to sign the Superhuman Registration Act. However, the hero was shockingly shot dead on the steps of the courthouse, a sudden, violent, and unexpected end for the Marvel Universe's greatest hero. Putting that on film would be nothing short of incredible, particularly as it would shake Marvel's Phase 3 up in a genuinely significant way. After everything Captain America has been through, seeing him taken down by a bullet (in the comics, he was shot in the chest/stomach area; the movie should make it a headshot as that would be both definitive and downright horrifying) would be a sad end for the character, but also one which puts an exclamation point on Captain America: Civil War and points to the stakes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe being much more deadly and serious moving forward.
