MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Doctor Strange
7. The Little Hand Scene Is Horrifying
When it comes to Strange having his mind "opened" by the Ancient One, the effects work really stands out again. We get what amounts to a whistle-stop tour of the multiverse and her powers as she attempts to scare Strange straight.
And this is really where Scott Derrickson's time as a horror movie director really adds to the film. Little moments like Strange's hands sprouting tiny little parasitic hands is the absolute stuff of drug-addled nightmares and you can really see the influence of hallucinagenic culture on it all.
Still, it's remarkably irresponsible of the Ancient One to give him that sort of insight and then refuse him access spitefully. Had Mordo not vouched for him, Strange would probably have destroyed himself trying to get there because of her apathy towards him.
