6. What Does Anyone See In Strange?!

Seriusly, why do The Anicnet One and Mordo see anything at all in Strange? Where are they getting the message of his potential from?

They call him gifted and say Kamar-taj could perhaps do with a man like him... but no matter how you look at it, he's a total dick. He's aloof, socially maladjusted, arrogant and self-serving, he laughs in The Ancient One's face at the idea of spiritual enlightenment and he struggles with basic spells for a long time.

Yes, he's a quick learner and has an eidetic memory, but he doesn't have a good heart, he's not an obviously valuable soul and he has limited indicators of greatness. They basically misread the things that make him a dick as signs of potential, somehow.
