MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching The Incredible Hulk

6. Liv Tyler's Performance Isn't Great

Perhaps back in 2008 Liv Tyler's performance as Betty Ross didn't seem quite so bad because the MCU was still in its early days and fundamentally starved for compelling female characters.

Today, though? Tyler gives by far the worst turn in the entire film, her soft-spoken voice making her thoroughly miscast for the supposedly smart and resourceful Ross, and it's hard not to feel like Marvel Studios cast her simply because, well, she's hot.

It doesn't help that Betty's plot isn't especially interesting - particularly the rebound boyfriend subplot - and relies a lot on contrived meetings with Bruce. Even ignoring all this, though, her facial expressions are often more unintentionally funny than affecting.

It's undeniably weird that Betty has since vanished from the MCU entirely, but on the other hand, would fans really want Tyler making a return?
