MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Thor: Ragnarok

4. The Missing Eye CGI Is Pretty Bad

Because just about every MCU movie needs to have a character lose a limb or vital organ of some kind, Ragnarok has Hela remove Thor's eye. Nothing quite like hiring an actor as dashingly handsome as Chris Hemsworth and forcing him to wear an eyepatch, right?

The real issue here is that the digital removal of Thor's eye looks pretty bad. Sure, this is a PG-13 movie so we're not going to get an involved exploration of the Asgardian's bloody eye socket, but still, in the close-up shots it looks like someone just composited a black hole over his eye with a cheap Snapchat filter.

On a $180 million budget, in a film with so many tantalising visual effects, is this really the best they could do? Thankfully there aren't too many close-ups of Thor sans-eye, but the ones that did make the cut are generally pretty awful looking.
