12. The Opening Shot Is The MCU's Best

Across the 18 MCU movies released to date, it's surprising just how few of them have memorable opening shots that actually stick in the mind.

Ragnarok's first image, of Thor (Chris Hemworth) hanging in a cage in Muspelheim, is a jaw-droppingly artful way to kick things off, with its gorgeous colour contrast and immaculate framing.

It looks like a comic panel has been torn from the page and perfectly translated to the big screen, an aesthetic that, for all of the MCU's successes, it only rarely achieves.

The cinematography, visual effects and production design all conspire to make this a perfect comic book movie image.
