MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Thor: The Dark World

2. The Final Battle Is Actually Pretty Neat

As easy as it is to rag on the movie's mostly forgettable action sequences, the final battle is actually pretty solid...if you can forgive the general greyness and the constant interjections of Darcy's "comic relief."

It doesn't make much logical sense, but far more importantly, it's actually fun. As the Nine Realms converge, conventional physics no longer apply and we get some brief, tantalising glimpses at some of the realms, with a fast-paced, somewhat stylish finale the rest of the movie didn't really deserve.

Malekith may have been an awful villain, but his death - being crushed by his own warship - was exactly the hilarious overkill such a naff baddie deserved.

Is it an all-timer final battle for the MCU? Absolutely not, but it's a major spike of interest in a movie that so often feels like it's doing the bare minimum.
