MCU: 12 Things You Learn Rewatching Thor: The Dark World
10. Loki Totally Steals The Movie
There's so much in The Dark World that doesn't work, but this only makes it that much clearer how easily Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is able to run away with the entire movie.
For starters, the majority of his one-liners actually work and generate actual, genuine laughter rather than groans or eye-rolls. His running commentary on Thor's attempts to pilot a spacecraft during the Asgard assault, for instance, add a lot of fun and personality to the sequence.
His sibling squabbling with Thor is generally great, and Hiddleston's knowing performance also imbues the film with its single effective bead of emotion. His complex relationship with Odin and Frigga (Rene Russo) is explored with surprising depth, and Hiddleston sells it terrifically well.
Just a shame most other characters weren't this well written, right?
