The Ancient One is a sorcerer who trains students in the mystic arts to protect the world from evil. Her former pupil, Kaecilius, breaks into her library and steals pages from an ancient book to awaken an ancient evil. If The Ancient One is such a powerful wizard, why didn't she place a spell on this text? Any one could've waltzed in and stolen the most dangerous book in the world because The Ancient One took no precautions with it whatsoever.

Shortly after this happens, Doctor Stephen Strange comes to The Ancient One to ask for guidance and is taught in the ways of sorcery. Strange's arrogance reminds The Ancient One of Kaecilius and so, she is reluctant to teach him forbidden magic. As a result, Strange resorts to sneaking into the library and stealing the same book that Kaecilius stole from.

So, even after someone had stolen parts of this book, The Ancient One still refuses to keep it under lock and key. Why is that book even out in the open if it can destroy the world? Hide it or put it on a high shelf or something!
