13. Sam Neill Is Playing The Trader In Thor: Ragnarok
The Rumour
Having starred for director Taika Waititi in The Hunt For The Wilderpeople, Sam Neill was cast in Thor: Ragnarok in September, prompting a circus of speculation on who he's playing. This leak suggests he is billed as The Trader.
Response
There are two possibilities for who The Trader could be, but it's unlikely he's the Morlock Trader (since there'd be rights issues), so it would seem to point towards Universe Elder Cort Zo Tinnus, who is another member of the same group of superhuman beings that includes The Collector, Ego (who will appear in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2) and The Grandmaster (who is also set to appear in Ragnarok).
That could mean that the film-makers are looking to set up the group as a unified entity, or simply that Neill's character will be involved with The Grandmaster in setting up the gladiatorial tournament that reunites Thor and Hulk. Whatever the case, the chance to see a Jurassic Park reunion of Neill and Jeff Goldblum is just brilliant.
