MCU: 20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Avengers

2. Woeful First Impressions

Tony Stark said it best when he said the Avengers took a little while to get any traction going. For the first two acts of The Avengers they couldn’t have been further from a team, they had spent more time fighting each other than Loki and his henchmen.

The two heroes that clashed the most were Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. Howard Stark apparently never shut up about Captain America, but Tony didn’t really see things the same, and Steve looked at Tony as he was before he became Iron Man.

In the heat of an argument, Tony was told he would never make the sacrifice play, while Steve in turn was told that everything special about him came out of a bottle. Audiences immediately knew how wrong both men were, but this was solidified even more so seven years later in Avengers: Endgame.

Tony Stark made the ultimate sacrifice when he gave his life to defeat Thanos and his forces, while Steve Rogers’ turn wielding Mjolnir proved that he himself was worthy. Everything that made him Captain America he already had before the super soldier serum, and looking back now it’s funny to see just how perfectly each hero was proved wrong.
