MCU: 9 Best Character Arcs In The Infinity Saga
1. Tony Stark Doing The Right Thing
It's no understatement to say that Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark epitomises everything that is great about the MCU. Proving his worth in no less than nine separate movies, the character underwent a notable and heart-warming transition, which continued right up until his final tearful moments.
It's true that Stark was born with the heart of a hero, be it synthetic or otherwise. But it took the entirety of a phase within the MCU for him to shed his booze-swilling, female courting, rich-boy recklessness in favour of something a whole lot more substantial. Who would have thought that this genius live-for-the-day bachelor would be the upstanding advocate of registered hero activity in Captain America: Civil War? Or, a few movies later, donning that gauntlet, snapping his fingers, and giving his life up for the most heroic play in Marvel movie history?
Stark loves humanity. He always did. But it wasn't until the most recent incarnations of his persona that he learned the value of true selflessness. His mental sobriety brought out the best and most good-natured aspects of his character, but also shackled him with a sense of mortality. It meant that he was able to state those immortal words with more clarity than ever before: "I am Iron Man."
