22. The Offenders

Howard the Duck
Marvel Comics

Status: Confirmed

Release: TBA

While The Defenders didn't quite work out as hoped, that's not stopping Marvel from trying again. This time, the project is being set up at Hulu, and is going to be four animated shows that come together for the team up.

Chief among them is Howard the Duck, with Marvel finally set to (maybe) do justice to the character, and Kevin Smith writing the series. That'll be followed by M.O.D.O.K, described as an "egomaniacal Super Villain with a really big head and a really little body"; Hit-Monkey, "the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld"; and Tiagra & Dazzler, "two woke Super Heroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles."

Eventually they'll all come together for The Offenders, as they're "all forced to team up in order to save the world and certain parts of the Universe."

It's a bizarre project, but if they can nail the right tone and, importantly, the pacing (being animated and more comedy-skewed should help), then this could avoid all The Defenders' problems. But it's a big 'if'.
