Helmut Zemo is a fascinating antagonist from a purely methodical standpoint;

A grief-stricken former soldier, his actions throughout Captain America: Civil War help propel the events that inevitably cause Iron Man and Captain America to have their long-overdue catfight.

Daniel Brühl sells his performance with a hushed and torn exterior that a lot of the time orbits a truly sympathetic villain. Even in his final scene, he is shown mercy by a vengeful T'Challa aka Black Panther as it is revealed that he was just another piece of the collateral damage leftover from a previous mission.

The fact that he causes so much devastation and never trades blows with any of the heroes deserves a standing ovation, and with a Disney+ spin-off show in development, his return also brings hopes that he'll carry the same sinister scheming he brought in Civil War.
