MCU: Every Single Marvel Movie Post-Credits Scene (And What They Mean)

20. Guardians Of The Galaxy: Baby Groot

Dancing Groot Guardians Of The Galaxy

The Scene

After sacrificing himself to save the Guardians team during the battle over Xandar, Groot returns, potted from a twig, and dances to The Jackson Five's "I Want You Back" as Drax sits in the background angrily sharpening a knife and trying to catch him dancing. Every time he looks, Groot stops.

It's a gag, but it's a great one.

What It Meant

A couple of things: the biggest being that Groot is actually alive, that he's tiny and that he likes to dance. Also Drax does not like dancing.

If you picked up at this point that Groot seemed entirely different, it's because he would be, with James Gunn much later revealing that the little guy didn't keep any of Groot's memories. In other words, he died and came back rather than actually surviving.

This also confirmed just how well Baby Groot was going to go over in the sequel.
