19. Guardians Of The Galaxy: Howard

The Scene

After the Guardians credits, we return to Knowhere - site of the Power Stone explosion that destroyed part of the Collector's collection and killed his slave girl. In the wreckage, the Collector sits, bandaged, bloodied and desolate as Cosmo the dog walks up to him and licks his face and neck while he drinks a space cocktail.

Off-screen we hear "what do you let it lick you like that for?" and the camera pans to reveal Howard The Duck (Seth Green) who comments "gross" as he sips his own drink, seemingly unbothered by being free of his display case.

What It Meant

That James Gunn is so confident that he'll include a character as almost universally hated as Howard The Duck, and claiming him back for fans after the travesty of his stand-alone, George Lucas inspired movie.

It's a gag, so don't expect him to get his own movie, but the very fact that anyone suggested it might happen is a pretty big deal.
