10. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: Guardians 3000 (And Krugarr)

The Scene

After they appear for Yondu's touching Ravager funeral, Sylvester Stallone's Starhawk (Stakar) brings together his former estranged team-mates. We see his sister Aleta (Michelle Yeoh), Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum) and Miley Cyrus' Mainframe, as well as red serpent like alien Krugarr who shows off his sorcery powers.

They vow to go and "steal some stuff", suggesting they're reforming their super-anti-hero criminal team.

What It Meant

The presence of all but one of those characters confirms the team to be the Guardians 3000 members. Krugarr was never a member, though he was an apprentice of Doctor Strange's and took over from him as the Sorceror Supreme.

Some have suggested this could mean we'll see a spin-off starring this iteration of the Guardians team, but the fact that Stakar invites them all to go and steal some stuff suggests they're still going to be bad guys. And expecting a movie from them is probably too much like wishful thinking.

But James Gunn says they'll be back somehow, as he told USA Today:

"Where they’ll show up and how they’ll show up, we’re still working on, but I would expect to see them in the future."
