MCU: Every Single Marvel Movie Post-Credits Scene (And What They Mean)

9. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: Adam Warlock

The Scene

Despite being defeated and seeing her drone army destroyed, Ayesha is not killed off and appears in the third mid-credits sequence for Vol 2. We hear from one of her servants that the Council are not impressed with her wasting resources attempting to catch the Guardians, and while she looks frustrated, she reveals that she has one more plan - a genetically pure superman who she calls Adam.

The camera then pans to reveal a funky looking gestation pod, with Adam cooking inside.

What It Meant

A couple of things: firstly, that Ayesha will return for the sequel and that she's probably going rogue rather than answering to her people's council. Secondly that the Guardians aren't off the hook yet, and most importantly that Adam Warlock is coming.

In the comics, both Ayesha and Warlock (first called Him) were created by The Enclave as attempts to make perfect humanoids. Both rejected their makers and while she turned to evil he eventually aligned himself with heroes (though he's been bad too).

This is effectively a repurposed origin, removing the Enclave and introducing Adam as a weapon of evil initially. It also makes the appearance of his pod in the Thor: The Dark World post-credits scene rather confusing.
