MCU: Every Single Marvel Movie Post-Credits Scene Ranked Worst To Best

29. Thor: The Dark World - The Collector

The introduction of characters in a post-credits scene has been something of a mixed bag over the years, but the first appearance of Benicio Del Toro's Liberace-like The Collector at the end of The Dark World was pretty impactful at the time.

However, in hindsight, absolutely none of the scene makes any sense. Firstly, why would the Asgardians be taking the Aether to someone who immediately proves themselves as untrustworthy as The Collector? They have a guy on their team who can see the entire universe and they missed his true intentions.

And then secondly, why did they tease the fact that The Collector was out for the Infinity Stones himself when Thanos had already been teased? It was like they were saying that he was working with the Mad Titan or something. Not that it mattered, since it wasn't really followed through on.

At least the scene includes an Adam Warlock Easter Egg to confuse the future movies even more...
