When the X-Men were given their first live action movie in the year 2000, believe it or not, they were actually fairly obscure as a group of characters when it came to being known by a mainstream, non-comic book audience. Look how that turned out - they now make up one of the most popular franchises in Hollywood, with last year's Days Of Future Past being the fifth highest-grossing movie worldwide in 2014, after Transformers: Age Of Extinction, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Maleficent and The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies. Marvel Studios obviously can't use mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so they've opted to utilise the Inhumans as a similar race of beings with a variety of powers. The Inhumans are even more obscure to mainstream audiences than the X-Men were - hell, they're probably more obscure than the Guardians Of The Galaxy were, but don't be surprised to see Marvel Studios have another huge success with them. Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak, Lockjaw and company could well become the new Wolverine, Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and Beast - especially with the added backing of the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. television series.
