One thing that Phase 3 is undoubtedly going to be is a transitional stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With a plethora of new characters being introduced (Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, the Inhumans etc), there is no doubt that a number of existing characters will be killed off (Captain America, Thor etc) or removed from the screen in other ways (banishment, retirement from superheroics etc) in order for the new characters to replace them. Given that the existing characters are the reason that the franchise has been so successful, could this new wave potentially kill it? It's hard to say, because audiences haven't seen the new characters yet but, if they aren't well received, they aren't exactly going to be the future of the franchise, are they?
