MCU Phase 4: 10 Marvel Movies Taika Waititi Should Direct
4. Ant-Man 3
Ant-Man is the last character currently in the MCU to make the list, and for the record it would be fantastic if Peyton Reed got to finish the trilogy. However, with Ant-Man & The Wasp disappointing at the box office and Disney known for being ruthless, there’s a chance he might get the chop; if he does, Taika Waititi is surely the perfect replacement.
Waititi’s comment about not wanting to be a step dad changing the way peanut butter sandwiches are made might ring true here too, but it’s all about optics; the way Gunn was fired left a sour taste in almost everyone’s mouths.
He made some dumb jokes years ago, but these jokes were neither hate filled nor aimed at punching down on any minority, plus he’d made them public knowledge and apologised for them sincerely before even the first Guardians came out. It’s understandable that Waititi wouldn’t want to step into his shoes after that.
Reed, however, may be dismissed more quietly. Hopefully he won’t go at all, but if he’s shown the door the wonderful sense of humour he’s cultivated through both Ant-Man movies surely needs a comedy director to fill the void.
