MCU Phase 4: 10 Ways Marvel Could Reboot Blade
8. Bring Wesley Snipes Back
One of the most interesting things about reviving Blade is that the older films themselves have never lost their salience. They kicked off the comic book movie boom way before X-Men or Spider-Man came around, and while the less that's said about Trinity, the better, Wesley Snipes was iconic in the role of Blade.
To many, the thought of having someone else play him isn't just irritating, but downright objectionable. The actor has continued to lobby for a return and, while it would be a first for a reboot to retain its older lead, reintroducing Snipes' character could lend itself well to the world-building elements the MCU loves to play with, especially with the nineties now being a focal point for Captain Marvel.
The chronology works fine, and integrating a supernatural narrative into the MCU would make plenty of sense too, with Doctor Strange the Sorcerer Supreme, and with the earlier New Line Cinema productions operating under a lore that saw talk of vampires dismissed as legend and nothing more, there's space there for those original films to take place in this particular continuity.
Snipes' presence (or lack thereof) will neither make nor break the Blade reboot, but there's no denying the appeal of bringing him back to the role that endeared the character to so many in the first place.
