7. Or Go With Someone New

What could be considered a risk by the character's faithful will likely be the option Marvel go with, and really, when their casting has been as good as it is, would it really be such a shame?

Yes, Snipes' Blade is, in many respects, definitive. But there are other actors out there who could play the part. For Marvel, recasting the role would make a great deal of sense; the baggage of those earlier films will be discarded, and Blade Trinity will continue to wallow in the annals of terrible comic book fare. More important, however, is that it would give the studio the chance to place their own stamp on the character, divesting from an older franchise and reinvigorating it with a new face that won't have to live up to the expectations fourteen sequel-less years inevitably bring.

To draw comparisons with Hellboy, the thought of recasting Ron Perlman as the title character was once considered absurd. And yet, within the year, the franchise is due a revival with Stranger Things' David Harbour in the eponymous role - a casting choice fans of the character warmed to in no time at all.

It's a move that would raise some eyebrows to begin with, but starting anew with the Blade Series looks to be the most logical choice for a studio planning its most ambitious phase yet.
