MCU Phase 4: 5 Comic Book Storylines Marvel Must Avoid

The MCU, as many fans will know, turned 10 this year.

10 years of Marvel churning out blockbuster after blockbuster feels like an eternity, and the Marvel machine is showing no sign of stopping. The MCU has introduced mainstream audiences to once-lesser known but now-iconic characters such as Iron Man, Captain America and Nick Fury. While comic fans have known of and loved these characters for decades, the MCU bears responsibility for having introduced them to a new generation of moviegoers, endearing them to the public in the process.

Which is why, in a comic event that shook up Marvel history to a considerable degree, Secret Invasion absolutely should not become an influence for the MCU's fourth phase. Characters were killed, betrayed, and some even revealed to be skrulls-in-disguise for years, and fans just aren't ready to buy that level of deception.

Far more a question of what Disney won’t do instead of what they shouldn’t do, Secret Invasion is a Marvel story that would damage the status quo of what is fast becoming (or, maybe, already has become) the go-to ‘safe’ family blockbuster franchise, and should be stricken from the drawing board as a result.
