Interestingly, given we have vague hints of what most other Phase Four films will entail - even Black Panther 2 is said to feature Namor - we know relatively little about the next Captain Marvel. This series of rumours and leaks is the first we've heard of what the plot might entail, and longtime Marvel fans in particular are going to love the name being suggested as a villain.

In the same thread, ScoopMaster provides a synopsis of Captain Marvel 2. I won't post the ending description he gives here just incase it is correct, but the mention of Korvac as the film's main antagonist should be enough for most fans to board the hype train.

"The film will involve the Kree once again and the Skrulls, and focus on their conflict. Carol learns of a 'superweapon' and goes on a search for it, only to realize it's Korvac. She sympathizes with him; her and Korvac bond over being guinea pigs for the Kree basically. So when he betrays her and turns heel she's left devastated."

The same post also suggests that Korvac could become a recurring threat in the modern day too.

But who is Korvac? Well the character was introduced in 1975 courtesy of Steve Gerber and Jim Starlin, the latter of whom went on to pen Infinity Gauntlet, the main inspiration for Avengers: Infinity War. The villain is from another time and another dimension, and has even tapped into the Power Cosmic once before. Point being, he's more than a worthy adversary for Captain Marvel.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
