MCU Phase 4: Predicting Every Unannounced Movie

5. Captain Marvel 2

Of all the upcoming MCU projects, Captain Marvel is by far the most fascinating. With Brie Larson in the title role, and with Samuel L. Jackson set to reprise his role as Nick Fury (finally), Marvel's nineties prequel has a lot going for it, in particular its cosmic premise.

Focussing on the Skrulls and Air Force pilot Carol Danvers' path to superhero-dom, Captain Marvel will root itself squarely in the cosmic side of things. Danvers is even said to be the most powerful hero the MCU's ever seen, and with a cameo in Infinity War looking increasingly likely, it's possible that the prequel will intersect with the events of the present in a pretty explosive way, hopefully with Danvers leading the Avengers by its end.

It is the presence of the Skrulls, however, that potentially bode the biggest consequences for the MCU. They've been a significant threat in the comics for decades now, and with a habit of impersonating Marvel's biggest and most iconic characters, there's a chance that Phase Four will deal with a body-snatching story that would make even Jack Finney blush.

Either way, it's hard to see Marvel going wrong with this one. Taking inspiration from Kelly Sue Deconnick's comic is a great first step, and with the Skrulls a lingering threat, expect them to be addressed sooner or later; if not in a Captain Marvel sequel, then in another Avengers film somewhere down the line.
